Hong Kong Student Chapter for the Society of Fire Protection Engineers (SFPE) was found on December. 22, 2019. It is the first student chapter in China, and the third in Asia. The chapter is set to promote fire safety engineering amongst students by hosting workshops, lectures, and events targeted at university students in Hong Kong. The chapter won Golden Awards for Chapter Excellence from SFPE Board of Directors for contributing to the needs of their members and the Society in both 2021, 2022, and 2023. Mr. Wai Kit (Wilson) Cheung
President
Waikit is currently a PhD student at the Hong Kong Polytechnic University (HK PolyU). He received his bachelor's degree from the Department of Building Services Engineering at the HK PolyU in 2022. His research interests include smouldering fire, performance-based design, fire modelling and firefighting robots.
Mr. Yifei Ding
Vice President
Yifei is a PhD student at the Hong Kong Polytechnic University. He received his bachelor's degree from the Department of Civil Engineering at the South China University of Technology (SCUT) in 2022. Currently, his work focuses on smart firefighting and computer vision.
Mr. Chang Tian
Treasurer
Chang is the current treasurer of the SFPE Hong Kong student chapter. He received his master’s degree from China University of Mining & Technology, Beijing in 2023. He is pursuing his PhD at the Department of Building Environment and Energy Engineering at HK PolyU. His research areas include flame retardant materials, computational fluid dynamics and molecular dynamics simulation.
Miss Ganyu Wang
Secretary
Ganyu is the secretary of the SFPE Hong Kong Student Chapter. She received her master’s degree (2022) from the College of Civil Engineering and Architecture at Zhejiang University (ZJU), where she performed studies on tunnel fire dynamics and tunnel ventilation. Ganyu is pursuing a PhD at HK PolyU, with research interests in fire modelling and smart fire detection.
